Ghoerano Tongkuno for walaka which was higher than in other areas. In ancient times the price
of kasangilai for walaka in all ghoeras ‘areas’ was the same, namely 5 bhoka or one-third of the
dowry. During the reign of King Muna (concurrently the Sultan of Buton named La Ode Ahmad
Matubu) as stated by Courveur (quoted by Niampe, et al., 2018, p. 108 to 109) it was felt that
the dowry and kasangilai were considered high for the walaka. Therefore, the Syara of Muna
decided to lower the dowry and kasingilai. This fine was later fixed in half or 10 suku, but this
decision was taken without the presence of Bhonto Bhalano who at that time came from the
ghoerano Tongkuno. When Bhontono Bhalano heard it, he disapproved of it and refused to apply
this new rule in ghoerano Tongkuno. Therefore, the dowry and kasangilai remain on the old
provisions.
Based on the explanation above, the resolution process of dopofileighoo (elopement) tradition
in the Muna ethnic seem very interesting and important to be studied. Therefore, the
researchers are very interested in investigating and describing the resolution process of
dopofileighoo (elopement) tradition in the Muna ethnic at Muna Barat Regency, the Province of
Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia. The results of this study are expected to provide knowledge,
insight, understanding, and awareness to all parties related to the problem of preserving local
culture, especially dopofileighoo (elopement) tradition in the Muna ethnic. The resolution
process of dopofileighoo (elopement) tradition in the Muna ethnic will be discussed
systematically in this study.
CONCEPTS AND BASIC THEORY
Definition of Marriage
Prodjodikoro (cited by Haris, et al. 2017, p. 10) explained that marriage is a necessity of life that
exists in the society, so for marriage, clear regulations are needed regarding the requirements,
implementation, continuation, and termination of a marriage. Marriage is the beginning of life
together between male and female. From the marriage, the nation's children will be born. Thus,
education at the time of marriage is very important because when a husband and wife have
good character education, their children will be educated with good morals as well. A child
usually imitates the behavior of his parents, if both show good behavior then the child will
imitate the good behavior and vice versa.
The marriage tradition in the Muna ethnic is very unique and may be different from the
marriage tradition in other ethnicities in Indonesia. This marriage system has existed since time
immemorial before the entry of Islam in Muna regency. After the entry of Islam and acceptance
by the Muna ethnic in Muna Regency, the marriage system in the Muna ethnic remained
unchanged, especially concerning the issue of dowry. What has changed is only the process of
consent to ijab kabul (solemnization of marriage) which follows the guidance of Islam as
marriage in Islam. However, along with the times, the process and procedures for the marriage
tradition began to change. La Aso (2015: 147) stated that in general, marriage processing in the
Muna ethnic consists of three stages, namely the processing of kabhasana dhoa salama,
kafofelesao, and kafosulino katulu.
Deconstruction Theory
According to Barker (2005, p. 525), a theory is a tool, instrument, or logic for dealing with the
world through the mechanisms of description, definition, prediction, and control. Theory
construction is a self-reflexive discursive effort aimed at interpreting and intervening in the
